How To
A tool is available in the Support Team to help you to import a large amount of Catia V5 models in SmarTeam. But these models must respect some rules.
Before contacting the CAD Support, you will have to ensure that the following points are respected.
Consult the document below to understand more how to import CATIA models to SmarTeam.
There are several icons in SmarTeam and CATIA. In the document below, there is a list of all the icons grouped by categories to help you understand more.
The data exchange process provides the functionality to send and re-integrate CATIA V5 designs to-from people anywhere using EDMS. The exchanges are traced and the access right are managed. Models and drawings can be sent for editing and the updated models can be re-integrated to SmarTeam as a new revision of the sent model.
In order to understand more how to send and receive these models from external design offices, please consult the following document.
More: How to send and receive models stored in SmarTeam with External Design Office?
The Excel BOM extraction helps to generate an excel file representing the BOM of an assembly. A lot of information is available in this file, regarding the composition of the assembly, the quantities, states, and many more, giving you an overview of your project.
In order to know how to export this BOM to Excel, please consult the document below.
All the documents that were selected in Euclid to be kept are stored in the SmarTeam database.
You have different ways to find these files.
In order to learn how to search and access them, please consult the following document
To ease the collaborative work with SmarTeam, there are some steps to validate before your CERN departure. In order to learn more about them, please check the document below and complete the check list presented before you leave CERN.
An icon in SmarTeam eases you to find all your Checked Out and New documents.
In order to find out how to check out or new documents, please consult the document below.
In the menu “maintenance” in your dashboard you can find the option • Change Password
You can find the maintenance menu in the right part of the dashboard, in the field “commands”.
In order to learn more how to change the password in SmarTeam, please consult the following document.
The access has been implemented from CDD via web link. In this context, it can be found in the common options integrated in the top bar of CDD.
By clicking on this link in a specific CDD Drawing page, it will be possible to navigate to the “Where Used” page.
In order to learn more about the Where Used functionality, please consult the following document.
The tool available in the Dashboard and in SmarTeam menus allows you to perform 3 different operations:
-
Get a new CDD number
-
Remove a CDD number
-
Get an existing CDD number
These options are only available for 3Ds and ITEMS, all operations related to 2Ds have to be done as until today via CartWeb.
In order to understand how it works, please consult the document below.
Before creating the drawings of an assembly, we will have to put in place the Bill of Material. To do so, we use at CERN the BOM Compare tool, which should help us to put in place the ITEM structure used for the Bill of Material.
In order to understand what a BOW Compare is, you access the Quick User Guide to learn about it in the document below.

The SmarTeam Teams as well as the PLM Responsible Project Groups (RPG) and Design Code groups are based on the "e-group". These can be updated independently by users without the use of CAD/PLM support is required. This requires using the e-groups application.
To learn more how to add and remove people from a Team, please consult the following document.
More: How to add or remove people from a Team?
Even if the document refers to SmarTeam only, the way it works for the PLM is similar.
Go to the Profile Card of the RPG or Design Code group to identify the e-group name.
Example:
Note if for a Design Code group, the "Is Egroup" property is not ticked, it means that the group is still owned by CDD. In that case, contact cdd.support@cern.ch to be added
