How to use the Free Hand Mode for Trimming in CATIA R35?

Answer

The Free Hand Selection mode allows you to quickly select and trim multiple sketch elements by simply dragging your pointer across them. You can customize the trimming behaviour using different options available in Tools


Using the Free Hand Selection Command

1.Click the Quick Trim and click the Free Hand Selection icon           
2. In the Tools Palette, select your desired trimming combination
3. Click and drag your pointer over the elements you want to trim

Trimming Modes available

The image above demonstrates the path drawn across the sketch elements using the free hand tool. Depending on your selection, the resulting trimmed geometries will vary, yielding one of the specific results shown below based on your chosen option in the Tools Palette:
 

  • Free Hand Selection + Break And Rubber In

Important Notes:
 

  • Pause Trimming: Press and hold Shift to temporarily move your pointer over certain parts of the sketch without considering them for trimming
     
  • Additional Uses: The free-hand selection method can also be used for creation of chamfers and corners
