Revit

Autodesk Revit is a Building Information Modelling (BIM) software tool for architects, structural engineers, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineers, designers and contractors.

The software allows users to design a building and structure and its components in 3D, annotate the model with 2D drafting elements, and access building information from the integrated building model’s database.

Revit is capable to plan and track various stages in the building’s lifecycle, from concept to construction and later maintenance and/or demolition.

Revit is used at CERN by two main entities: EN\CV (Colling & Ventilation) and SCE (Civil Engineering).

It exists a connector to work with Revit and the CERN PLM. This plugin allows the users to save their data in the PLM, but also to share this data with other CERN Designers and Projects members. The PLM is also the place where all the Drawings made with Revit can be validated and become official.

The Connector also contains the CERN Titleblock Editor.

Revit native files can be opened in SpinFire Ultimate, the CERN official CAD Viewer.

Revit can also exchange 3D data via IFC files, or, using DWG files, it can export 2D or 3D.

Due to the license cost and to the limited number of licenses owned by CERN, the access to Revit is granted under certain preconditions.

Support:

The PLM Support team is in charge of the support of the Revit – PLM Connector.

IT is responsible for the installation via CMF as well as the licensing.

There is no official CERN support for the usage of Revit.
